Precautions for wire rope

1. When unwinding and installing the wire rope, the correct method should be adopted to prevent the wire rope from kinking. In addition, be careful not to stain the surface of the wire rope with sand, so as not to aggravate the wear and affect the service life of the wire rope.

2. If the whole roll of steel wire rope needs to be cut off during use, the end should be tied or fused according to Figure 3 or Figure 4.

3. When the rope clamp must be installed, it should be fixed according to the method shown in Figure 5. The distance between the rope clamps is 5-6 times the diameter of the wire rope.

4. The lay direction of the steel wire rope should be selected so that the winding method of the steel wire rope at the bottom of the drum conforms to Figure 6.

5. The wire ropes should be neatly arranged when wound on the reel, and should not be wound randomly, otherwise it will cause serious biting and crushing during the work of the wire rope, which will affect the service life of the wire rope.

6. The new rope must be "run-in" under light load at the initial stage of use. This can increase the service life of the wire rope. In use, avoid excessive impact load from causing damage to the wire rope.

7. Special attention should be paid to the accurate calculation of the distance during the drilling process, and the rope shall not be excessively placed to prevent the wire rope from being entangled in a relaxed state and causing structural damage and the entire wire rope to be scrapped.

8. For multi-layer winding equipment, it is inevitable that the wire rope will "bite" during use. It is recommended to check the "rope bite" part frequently during use, and strengthen lubrication, or to cut off the "rope bite" regularly and stagger the "rope bite" part.

9. After the wire rope is put into use, the performance will gradually decrease. Therefore, after the new rope is used for a period of time, frequent inspections of the easily damaged parts of the wire rope, such as the part where the wire rope "bites", the lower wire rope of the drum, the wire rope passing through the pulley and the part of the wire rope entering and leaving the drum when a severe impact occurs, etc. Provide basis for reasonable and safe use of steel wire ropes through frequent inspections.

10. Broken wire treatment

When the wire rope has broken wires and still needs to be used, the broken wires should be dealt with in time. The head of the broken wire can be clamped with wire cutters and bend repeatedly until the wire breaks. After this treatment, the broken end of the steel wire will be clamped between the strands and will not cause harm to the use of the steel wire rope. When the number of broken wires in a lay length reaches 10% of the total number of outer wires, the wire rope must be replaced.

11. Suggestion

Lubrication and maintenance of wire rope

1. The wear and tear of the wire rope during use

Continuous wear and adhesive wear occur at the actual contact friction parts; abrasive wear is caused by the adhesion and incorporation of dust and abrasives; if the wire rope is exposed to moisture, acid, and alkaline gas environments, it will cause corrosion and chemical erosion; due to overload and impact Or excessive bending causes the steel wire structure to change, and the strength decreases to cause fatigue. This is a form that is not easy to detect but gradually accumulates and suddenly causes damage.

Because the specific pressure between the steel wire, the steel wire and the rope pulley, the drum is too large, the strength of the oil film is insufficient, and even imprints and deformation appear. Wear caused by frictional heat caused by direct contact with metal.

2, lubrication and maintenance

(1). How to fill lubricating oil. Infiltration method, when infiltration, the dirt, dust, sludge, etc. in the gaps of the strands of the wire rope are cleaned up with superheated steam or compressed air and a steel brush, and then placed in an oil bath for immersion. The oil used should be heated to 50°C Left and right to infiltrate. The infiltration interval is once every 3 months under normal temperature conditions. You can also use a portable oiler with an oil brush or a special oiler to refuel. The former is used for short steel wire ropes. The lubrication interval is about once every 5 days, and once every 3 days under dusty sand, high temperature or open air conditions.

(2). How to fill grease. The ideal way to add lubricant is to add the lubricant to the place where the rope strands tend to open when the wire rope passes through the sheave or coiler. Lubricant can be added manually or mechanically.

Wire rope wear

The wire rope is in contact with other objects and moves relative to each other during operation, causing friction. Under the action of machinery, physics and chemistry, the surface of the steel wire rope is constantly abraded. Abrasion is the most common damage method of steel wire ropes. It is generally divided into three conditions: external wear, deformation wear and internal wear: the typical cross-sectional shape of the worn steel wire, that is, uniform external wear, deformation wear and internal wear.

1. External wear The wear caused by the outer circumference of the wire rope in contact with the surface of the pulley groove, drum wall, hook and other objects during use belongs to external wear. After the external wear, the diameter of the wire rope will become thinner, and the thin steel wire on the outer peripheral surface will be smoothed. The external wear of the wire rope reduces the cross-sectional area of ​​the steel wire that bears the load, and the breaking load of the wire rope is also reduced accordingly. Through the test, the single-week wear is worse than the full-circle abrasion, so the steel wire worn in a single-week should be changed to uniform wear throughout the week as much as possible.

2. Deformation wear The surface damage of the wire rope caused by vibration and collision is called deformation wear. This is a kind of local abrasion phenomenon. For example, the wire rope on the surface of the drum is hit by other objects, the hoisting wire rope of the crane is entangled with each other, or the rope biting phenomenon caused by the deviation of the pulley and the center of the drum will cause the wire rope to deform and wear. . If the thin steel wire on the worn surface is cut open, the deformation and external abrasion will be deformed due to local extrusion, and the cross section of the steel wire will stretch out into a wing shape on both sides of the extrusion. From the appearance, the width of the steel wire is expanded. Although the cross-sectional area of ​​the steel wire rope is not reduced much, the surface material of the steel wire at the local extrusion is hardened, and the wire is easily broken.

3. In the process of internal wear and tear, the entire load of the steel wire rope when it passes through the drum or pulley is pressed on one side of the wire rope, and the curvature radius of each thin steel wire cannot be exactly the same. At the same time, due to the bending of the wire rope, the small steel wires inside the wire rope will generate force and slip. At this time, the contact stress between the strands increases, causing the steel wires between adjacent strands to produce local indentations and deep depressions. When repeated cycles of stretching and bending, stress concentration occurs in the deep recesses and is broken, which constitutes internal wear. Generally, the pressure on the surface of the thin steel wire is proportional to the pressure of the wire rope. Under the same tension, the pressure per unit area is different due to the different pressure area. From the perspective of surface pressure and wear, the use of line contact wire ropes is more advantageous than point contact wire ropes, and the use of surface contact wire ropes is more advantageous than line contact wire ropes. In addition, the bending degree and moving speed of the wire rope have an influence on the internal wear of the wire rope. Obviously, choosing wire ropes of line contact or surface contact type is an effective way to reduce internal wear.
